The following article, BREAKING: Bezos Makes Massive Changes at the Washington Post, was first published on The Black Sphere.
I asked the question the other day of whether Jeff Bezos had jumped on the Trump train. And the reason I suspected this happened is because he nixed his newspaper’s endorsement of Kamala Harris. But I had another reason to suspect that Bezos had flipped.
As I wrote the other day, Bezos purchased WaPo for the express purpose of hammering Donald Trump. And his paper obliged. You can hardly find anything complimentary of Trump during his 4 years as president, or thereafter. And Trump is arguably the greatest president of our generation.
So what changed? Before I answer that, I’d like to remind people of what America’s richest man said recently. Because, Elon Musk declared that many CEOs prefer Trump over Harris. He added that he wished more of them would take a stand.
And there you have it. Jeff Bezos watched the Tesla of our time and perhaps the greatest industrialist in American history evangelize President Trump. In one of those moments, Bezos decided that he’d see enough.
So Bezos put his foot on the neck of WaPo’s obviously biased editorial board who yet again endorsed the Democrat. Why do they even bother calling an “editorial board”, when it’s more appropriately called a “propaganda team”?
Check out the media reaction
Subscribers fleeing. “Desperate” Bezos. The sky is falling for Bezos. He’s gone from being worth $140 billion to $139.6 billion.
Anyway, some editorial board members have threatened to step down or have. Keep in mind, these are all the people who were going to be out of jobs had Bezos not stepped in to save them.
At least two more staffers have penned their last story for The Washington Post as employees resign in protest over the broadsheet’s decision not to endorse Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election.
Editorial board members David Hoffman and Molly Roberts have issued their resignations, Semafor media journalist Max Tani reported on Monday. The two longtime Washington Post staffers each authored resignation letters slamming the paper’s decision not to endorse Harris.
“I believe we face a very real threat of autocracy in the candidacy of Donald Trump,” Hoffman, who took home the Pulitzer Prize last week and first joined the paper in 1982, wrote in his resignation letter, which was posted on X. “I find it untenable and unconscionable that we have lost our voice at this perilous moment.”
His reaction likely stunned the organization.
Jeff Bezos is doubling down. In a meeting this morning with leftist journalists threatening a walkout unless he reverses course and endorses Kamala Harris immediately, he told them they can “f-ck off”, and that WaPo will be hiring more Trump-friendly, conservative voices and they… pic.twitter.com/ELwINptHEq

Not much of a threat to a man who bought the paper on a whim, and with pocket change.
Certainly these people didn’t think they could threaten Bezos? The man who holds their careers in his hands? Perhaps the editorial board members believe their hype; that they live in a “democracy”?
Welcome to totalitarianism, Amigos.
Like most CEOs these days, Bezos recognizes that his newspaper has become a “woke” joke. These people are not journalists. Instead, as I indicted earlier they are propagandists.

@JHartley2 wrote on X:
Jeff Bezos probably personally apologized to the President for his reporter calling the President a war criminal. I suspect that incident opened his eyes & had much broader impact than most realize.

“Daddy, if you don’t turn the car around RIGHT NOW to go get us our ice cream, we’re gonna jump outta the car!” Dad: Rolls down windows, hits the gas, keeps driving.
@JimPowers3rd wrote on X:
CEOs must look into the future to chart a successful course for their business. This means Bezos sees a declining liberal base and demand for fake news, probably driven by X; they can’t compete against uncensored news.
This next one was worth just putting the actual quote up:
Just like our MAGA Ironman Musk, People that have FU money don’t take orders from misfits who have NEVER built anything in their lives! Good for Jeff Bezos! pic.twitter.com/r6OtDCilRg

@MannsterRick captures my belief on another reason why Bezos drew a line in the sand:
Bezos is smart enough to realize that Trump is going to win and is being proactive.
Implications for WaPo in the next Trump Era?
As some have speculated, WaPo may be attempting to recalibrate its approach towards Trump given hindsight from the Trump era measured against the disastrous Biden-Harris era. The paper they say is potentially aiming for more nuanced coverage to distance itself from accusations of bias and avoid governmental pushback. Skeptics of Bezos claim that he’s concerned about government contracts, and he knows that Trump will win. Thus, his blocking of Harris’ endorsement amounts to a pre-emptive olive branch to Trump.
As The Washington Examiner reports, Amazon acquired significant federal contracts and thus will face regulatory scrutiny. This dynamic could lead to reporting that attempts to avoid antagonizing an administration led by Trump, or any future administration with conservative leanings, reflecting both corporate and editorial caution.
While I can’t disagree that Bezos is being pragmatic about the election, I also believe that Bezos has awakened from “woke”. You can’t watch America’s richest man, and perhaps the world’s smartest man endorse Trump without taking notice. But regardless of the reason, America now has two revolutionaries working on behalf of the people.
For whatever reason, Bezos has jumped on the Trump train.
