Ida B Wells was a former slave who became one of the founders of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She recorded the horrors that were happening to black people, exposing it to the wider world.

[WEEKEND RECAP 04-26-25] I read a meme: Too bad Republicans are nowhere as committed to saving America as Democrats are to destroying it.

If you put your faith in a political party, then you are a chump. Republicans could hold all 435 House seats, 100 Senate seats, 9 Supreme Court justices, and the presidency, and still get their ass kicked by Democrats.
