Culture Clash Reprise – Ep 26-361

We have a lot to discuss from the weekend. President Trump and Xi Jinping. More speeches at the United Nations, including Netanyahu’s. And, because the news apparently has a subscription to human misery, our regular delivery of propaganda, tragedy, doom, and despair from the Left.

We’ll get to what we can.

But first, I want to return to a show I did recently about the culture clash in America.

I said we’re winning it. I stand by that. And the funny thing is, I don’t need a consultant, a focus group, or one of those polls where twelve people in a Brooklyn coffee shop speak for Iowa. The other side keeps providing demonstrations.

Sometimes it’s a politician who runs as one thing and gets caught describing an entirely different set of priorities. Sometimes it’s a religious figure who takes two thousand years of Christianity and treats it like a group project with no adult supervision. And sometimes it’s a bar discovering that its customers, its principles, and its electric bill have entered a three-way custody battle.

That’s our show.

I’m going to give you the examples. I’ll tell you what I think they show, because these are my opinions and this is my microphone. You can make your own judgment. If you arrive somewhere else, that’s fine. At least we’ll both be looking at what happened instead of a slogan somebody paid to put in our feeds.

I believe good news for Democrats has become increasingly difficult to find unless it’s manufactured, purchased, or given an elaborate public-relations makeover. And when something happens organically? Caligula would ask people to settle down. A pope might ask for an early checkout.

Now, I know what happens whenever I say something like that. Somebody waits for the most horrifying story in the stack, then says, “Kevin, one criminal doesn’t represent an entire political movement.”

Agreed. A violent crime is a violent crime. The victim is a person, not a prop, and the accused gets the presumption of innocence. What interests me is how quickly public debate tries to turn every story into a loyalty test: which details are you permitted to notice, which questions are you allowed to ask, and when are you ordered to stop?

We’ll deal with one disturbing allegation briefly, then leave it where it belongs: with investigators and the courts. After that, we’ll spend time on people who chose to speak publicly, chose to seek office, or chose a policy for their own business.

And first, before anybody thinks the UN has escaped:
